Grace+ was my final exhibition for my Masters of Fine Art program, the installation featured over a kilometer of rope and featured a number of furniture items bound and suspended from the celling with smaller photographs framed around the walls. The work was installed in a disused shop-front that I hired to completely customize the space for the show.
The work uses rope as a metaphor for networked and curated identities, here the furniture used all came from my bedroom at the time. However, like the homepage of a social networking site, the items featured were edited to only show my space (and consequently myself) in the most flattering light – the bed is made, the books are clever and the flowers are fresh, with none of the boring real-life elements you might find in my actual room.
The full catalogue for this exhibition and my Masters thesis can be found in the ‘Essays’ section.
This work was presented at 28 King Street, Newtown during June 2012
