Studio Experimentation: Arteles Creative Residency Finland
During the two months I spent at Arteles I wanted to reconnect with making works intuitively. The previous residency I undertook here saw me fall in love with the magical forests of Hämeenkyrö, in particular I was fascinated with the intricate moss and lichen growing on almost every surface.
I wanted to engage with the environment specifically, and throughout the residency I created a variety of multi-media works in the sites around the Centre. Long days, three hour twilight nights and plenty of sauna bathing was ideal for inspired experimentation.
The works created here were refined and later exhibited during ‘Deep Solitude’ at Archive Space the following year. This work was created and presented at Arteles Creative Center over July and August 2014.
