AE x GK Orange Moss Exhibition: Corner Store Gallery
After the launch at Casula Powerhouse on May 12th, the Orange Moss Collaboration between myself and ‘alexis, eclectic’ toured regionally to Corner Store Gallery, Orange. The collection was a genuine creative collaboration, from the initial concept sketches to the final Runway installation. However I worked mostly on the graphic elements and hand embroidery, whereas Alexis designed the patterns of each garment and constructed all the works.
As the alexis, eclectic label is currently based in Orange, I wanted to respond to the location specifically. All the graphics that make up the prints were based on a compilation of photos taken at Alexis’s property on Mount Canobolas and De Salis Vineyards. These graphics were custom printed on to linen, stretch cotton and velvet. From there we worked with the palette generated from the lichen and moss to select complimentary plain fabrics to complete the works – and the collection was born!
